Frank and Louie, often called “Frankenlouie,” was born on September 8, 1999, with a rare condition known as diprosopia a congenital disorder where an animal is born with two faces. He had two mouths, two noses, and three eyes, yet he shared one brain and one body. Most cats born with this condition survive only a few days, but Frank and Louie’s story became a miracle that touched hearts around the world.

When he was just a day old, Frank and Louie was brought to a veterinary clinic to be euthanized. But one compassionate veterinary nurse, Martha “Marty” Stevens, believed he deserved a chance. She took him home and began feeding him by hand every few hours using special formula.
